Clarifying the situation, Montpellier’s public prosecutor stated that the event was not an assault but an attempted suicide. Currently, Congré is under medical care at Montpellier University Hospital, where his condition has reportedly stabilized.
Daniel Congré, known for his versatility in defense, spent his entire football career in France. Emerging from Toulouse’s youth academy, he transferred to Montpellier in 2012. Over nine years, he established himself as a club legend before departing in 2021. His final three years as a player were at Dijon. In October 2024, Congré stepped into the role of sporting coordinator at Lyon.
